Speak up for wildlife

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. We have got to get our kids outside! And trust me, this comes from a woman who loves her air conditioning and her wireless internet. And even though the kids sometimes protest, it is good for them – physically and mentally! Like eating vegetables and getting enough sleep but better because no matter how much protesting you start off with, they almost always have fun! There just isn’t any down side to this. So please, follow the link below and let the Surgeon General know you think this is important. And it is really, incredibly important.

Sign the Petition asking the Surgeon General to promote outdoor time for everyone!

Americans are spending less time outside than ever before, and it’s contributing to a decreased understanding of and appreciation for the natural world. Studies show that when children have time for unstructured play and interaction with nature, they benefit immensely. It helps increase understanding of their connection to nature, in addition to improved physical, mental and emotional health.

Please click here and fill out the form to sign the petition to the US Surgeon General, urging him to promote the benefits of daily outdoor play in nature for all children and families.

  1. Sharing nature with my five-year-old nephew is just about the greatest thing in the world. He embraces all of my enthusiasm. One of the reasons I blog about the CNY Link Trail is to show people how rewarding it is to transmit this enthusiasm to the next generation.
