30 days in Rome: day 1

This first photo is a view out our apartment window – not a bad thing, waking up to a view like this even if the time change has done a number on us. We took it pretty easy for our first day, with a quick trip to the grocery and a little exploration of our neighborhood, Prati. Our apartment is nestled between Vatican City and the Castle Sant’Angelo, or Hadrian’s Mausoleum. Vatican City and St. Peter’s Square are crazy crowded during the day, but there is a park surrounding Castle Sant’Angelo where we spent many hours during our last visit to Rome. I feel certain we will do the same this go round, though I have promised myself I will not be quite as timid about venturing out of the neighborhood without Raymond this visit!
