30 Days in Rome: day 16 Villa Borghese

Villa Borghese has to be one of my favorite places in Rome – both the sprawling gardens and the incredible collection housed in the Borghese Gallery. On Tuesday we toured the collection with the students, and Fletcher and Lola Gray were appropriately awed by the Caravaggio paintings and Bernini sculptures. Lola photographed everything, as has become her habit. We wound our way through the gardens on the way home, playing Pooh sticks in a little stream and climbing on very cool sculpture of Goethe. And plans are in the works to return to the Borghese soon for an afternoon of boating, biking and picnicking!
