My life with chickens: Broody again??

Poor Henriella really wants to be a mama chicken. She’s back in the nesting box again, puffing up whenever anyone comes near and fiercely guarding her empty eggs. I feel a little sorry for her, she would have made a good mama chicken. But we are at our chicken limit, so we need to break this broodiness and break it fast! Raymond heard that dunking the hen into cold water can do the trick pretty quickly . . . should we give it a try?

Out like a lamb

March certainly came in like a lion this year – much colder than we are used to here in Savannah. But things finally seem to be turning around, with sunny blue skies and temps in the 80’s. This is more like it!
